The Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Sweden deeply regrets the recent broadcast of the documentary "Ukraine. The Masks of the Revolution" by channels SVT2 and SVT1 on May, 23 and May 25th respectively.
The Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Sweden has already drawn the attention of the TV channels’ leadership regarding the significant distortion of facts and developments in Ukraine during the Revolution of Dignity in this movie. The mentioned documentary misinterprets the true course of the Revolution of Dignity and thus leads to false statements and estimates of pro-European, peaceful protests of the developments in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities in November 2013 – February 2014.
We stand for the importance of providing unbiased, politically neutral and uncensored information by any media.
Therefore the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Sweden has already suggested to the Swedish TV channels to facilitate the arrangement of the shooting of documentaries reflecting comprehensive and unbiased information about the Revolution of Dignity.
The broadcast of the mentioned controversial film was held despite the previous clarifications by the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Sweden. It is considered as an attempt to deprive Swedish TV audience of any chance to independently evaluate and conclude what were the key causes of the Revolution of Dignity and what role did the Heaven’s Hundred Heroes played in safeguarding values of freedom and democracy in Ukraine.
