On October 22, 2025, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid a visit to Sweden. This time the aircraft with the President on board landed in SAAB airport in the City of Linköping. 

The main focus of the visit was the enhancing capabilities of the Ukrainian Air Forces. This issue was on the top of the agenda during the meeting between the Head of the Ukrainian State and Prime Minister of Sweden Mr. Ulf Kristersson as well as with SAAB President and CEO Mr. Micael Johansson. 

Moreover, during the visit Ukraine and Sweden signed Letter of Intent concerning cooperation in the field of air capabilities, which provided the basis for establishment of cooperation between our two states focusing on two strategic goals: enhancing Ukraine’s defence capabilities and strengthening the European security in strategic perspective. In this context, the main Sweden’s contribution potentially could be —supply of combat jets JAS Gripen to Ukraine. In the future these state-of-the-art air jets may form a basis for modern Ukrainian Air Forces.
