May 16th , 2011 Ambassador of Ukraine in Sweden Yevgen Perebyinis delivered a speech «25th anniversary of Chornobyl disaster: lessons for the future» at the nuclear safety seminar organized by the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm to commemorate 25th anniversary of Chornobyl accident.
In his speech the Ambassador said that the Chornobyl accident has proved the necessity of the world community joint efforts to response to the disasters of this kind and to prevent them in the future. He underlined that securing safety of the nuclear reactors needs consolidation of scientific, technical and financial resources.
Mr Yevgen Perebyinis informed on the events held by Ukraine to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Chornobyl disaster, namely Kyiv Summit on safe and innovative use of nuclear energy, International Conference «25 years after the Chornobyl accident. Safety for the future» and Chernobyl Pledging Conference. He thanked the Swedish government for their donations made in result of this and previous pledging conferences which came up to about 20 million euro.
Among other key-speakers of the seminar there were experts of the Royal Institute of Technology and the MPs of the Swedish Riksdag (parliament).
