May 11th, 2011 Ambassador of Ukraine in Sweden Yevgen Perebyinis met Karin Enström, Chair of Committee on Foreign Affairs in the Riksdag (parliament) of Sweden. During the meeting a number of issues were discussed namely development of bilateral relation between Ukraine and Sweden as well as interaction of the two countries in frames of Ukraine-EU cooperation. The Ambassador informed on advance in negotiation process on signing the Association Agreement with the EU as well as Ukraine's endeavors aimed at implementation of EU-Ukraine Action Plan on Visa-Liberalization.
Mrs Karin Enström took a positive notice of the goal-oriented work made by Ukraine to implement the Action Plan and mentioned that in case of its full implementation Sweden would be ready to support the cancellation of visas for Ukrainian citizens. The Swedish MP also reassured that Sweden remains the consistent supporter for European aspirations of Ukraine. She underlined that Sweden's position supported by the majority of political parties in Riksdag lies within the acknowledgment of Ukraine's right to become in the future the full-fledged member of the EU provided that Ukraine fully meets the needed criteria. Mrs Karin Enström said she hopes that the negotiation process between Ukraine and the EU on Association Agreement will be completed by the end of this year and it will become an important step forward to Ukraine's integration in the EU.
The Sides reiterated readiness to hold the official visit of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (parliament) Mr Volodymyr Lytvyn to Sweden.
