Ukrainian Sunday schools in Sweden joined celebrations of the Day of Cossacks and Day of the Defender of Ukraine. In Gothenburg, on this special to all Ukrainians day, Cossack kulish was cooked and historic lesson was held.
In Stockholm, school students together with Plast youth scout organization, held a presentation on Cossack history and traditions, was held. Children cited poems dedicated to the Cossack holiday and greeted their fellow Ukrainian friends from Malmö Sunday school via TV-call.
The religious holiday of Pokrova Virgin Mary, held the same day, was also celebrated by religious communities. Father Andrii, rector of the Ukrainian mission of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church in Sweden, organized a thematic presentation and games for children. Ukrainian Orthodox Church held a Joint Prayer.
Diplomatic staff of the Embassy of Ukraine in Sweden visited Kristianstad monument to Hetman Pylyp Orlyk, and together with the representatives of the Ukrainian community organizations in Sweden - Ukrainian Youth in Sweden, Ukrainian Community in Sweden, Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church in Sweden, visited Linköping City Library, where mace of Hetman Ivan Mazepa is kept.
