On 27 August, Vitaliі Mykhailichenko, a 16-year-old student of Borshchivka Secondary School # 1, supported by All-Ukrainian Water Society WaterNet, represented Ukraine at the international research competition at Stockholm Junior Water Prize.
Together with students from 35 countries Vitalii Mykhailichenko presented his research “Stop the Tsunami”, which is focused at tsunami’s destructive effects on nature and Earth. Young Ukrainian researcher offered the reduction of tsunami’s devastating effects on coastal megacities and other infrastructural objects. Vitalii believes his tsunami protection system will be implemented in various countries, which usually face challenges of tsunami’s hazards.
During World Water Week held before the finals of Stockholm Junior Water Prize, Vitalii had a firsthand opportunity to present his study research results, meet with his counterparts from different countries, attend lectures and seminars on water supplies, water protection and water shortages.
H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden is the Patron of the Prize. Annual Stockholm Junior Water Prize ceremony is hosted by Stockholm International Water Institute in cooperation with independent national organizers.
