June 21st, 2010 the international conference «Promoting Ukraine’s integration into European security cooperation» was opened in Stockholm organized by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) under support of Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Poland and Embassy of Ukraine in Sweden.
Representatives for governmental and scientific institutions from Sweden, Poland and Ukraine, ambassadors of a number European countries, diplomats and journalists took part in the conference.
The participants discussed such important issues as Ukraine’s role in political and security processes in Europe and the world, our country’s contribution to the process of nuclear disarmament, peace-keeping engagement, struggle against terrorism, Ukraine’s weight in the context of Europe’s energetic security.
The special rapports were delivered by Mrs Malena Mård, Deputy Director-General of Eastern Europe and Central Asia Department of the Swedish MFA, H.E. Adam Kobieracki, Director of Security Policy Department of the Polish MFA and H.E. Yevgen Perebyinis, Ambassador of Ukraine to Sweden. In his rapport Ambassador of Ukraine has outlined basic elements of the reform programme initiated by the President of Ukraine, our country’s foreign and home policy priorities, Ukraine’s vision on the European security system.
