Today, His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden is visiting Ukraine for the first time since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.
The King, accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard, is visiting the city of Lviv to demonstrate Sweden’s steadfast support for Ukraine.
The visit began with a meeting between the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf. Together, they honored the memory of Ukrainians who gave their lives for their country and its independence.
The President of Ukraine and His Majesty laid flowers at the graves of fallen defenders at the Field of Mars in Lychakiv Cemetery, where, since April 2022, Ukraine’s defenders who lost their lives in the defense of the country have been laid to rest.
