On 3 September, Stockholm hosted an energy seminar dedicated to the current challenges facing Ukraine’s energy sector, its urgent recovery needs, and prospects for deepening Ukrainian-Swedish energy cooperation.
The event brought together representatives of the Governments of Ukraine and Sweden, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MCF), as well as representatives of Swedish business, leading energy and engineering companies.
The seminar was opened with welcoming remarks by Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Anatolii Kutsevol and State Secretary to the Swedish Minister for Civil Defence Johan Berggren.
Ambassador of Ukraine to Sweden Svitlana Zalishchuk briefed participants on the implementation of the second phase of the joint initiative by the Embassy of Ukraine and Swedish partners in support of Ukraine’s energy sector, Keep Ukraine Warm.
The discussion also featured Ivan Fedorov, Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, who spoke about the critical situation in the region and the urgent needs of Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
⚡️ The seminar focused on:
The involvement of Swedish businesses in the discussion was particularly important. Ukraine’s recovery is not only a matter of government assistance. It is also about new partnerships, advanced technologies, investment and opportunities for joint growth.
Ukraine highly values Sweden’s consistent, practical and solidarity-driven support, with Sweden remaining one of Ukraine’s key partners in strengthening energy resilience.
Our ambitious goal is to move from emergency assistance towards a long-term Ukrainian-Swedish energy partnership and work together to build a modern, decentralised, resilient and green energy system for Ukraine.
We thank our Swedish partners for their support and readiness to work together on Ukraine’s energy future!
Special thanks to the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs for co-organising the event, to all the speakers for the substantive discussion, and to everyone who joined the conversation and shared this important evening with us.
