On December 11, Ambassador of Ukraine Andrii Plakhotniuk took part in the videoconference with the members of the friendship group of the Riksdag of Sweden. The group was represented by the Members of Parliament Lars Thomsson (Chair of the group), Hanna Westerén (Vice Chair), Åsa Lindestam (First Deputy Speaker), Sven-Olof Sällström, Erik Ezelius, Johan Büser, Janine Alm-Ericsson, Denis Begic, Maria Nilsson, Margareta Cederfeldt and International advisor Martin Brozek.
Ambassador of Ukraine commended the support by Sweden of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and Swedish active efforts on this track both on the bilateral level and within international organizations (UN, OSCE).
During the meeting the Swedish MPs were informed about the COVID-19 pandemic situation in Ukraine and the counter epidemic measures of the Ukrainian Government.
Situation on the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions as well as in Crimea along with the implementation progress regarding the Minsk agreements were of particular interest for the Members of the Riksdag of Sweden. The members of the friendship group were informed about the practical steps of the Ukrainian side in implementing the General agreed conclusions of the Paris Summit in the “Normandy Format” (09.12.2019).
Ukrainian “Crimean Platform” Initiative has been presented to the Swedish MPs with the expectation for joining its activities by the Swedish side.
The Swedish side was briefed on the reforms progress in Ukraine.
Participants of the meeting confirmed their interest in the further active development of the Ukrainian-Swedish interparliamentary dialogue.
