Victims of 1932-1933 Holodomor in Ukraine are Commemorated in Stockholm

On 26 November, during Third Annual Festival "Rethinking Europe: Ukraine" Ukrainian young talents, laureates of Vladimir Horowitz International Piano Competition Dmytro Semykras, Mariia Matsiievska and Anna Nebaba, presented pieces of classical Ukraian music.

A requiem concert is organized by Ukrainian Institute in Sweden (Director Ms.Nataliia Pasichnyk) and Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Sweden. Ukrainian and international communities paid tribute to the victims of Holodomor - genocide of the Ukrainian nation. Representatives of leading Swedish media attended the event. 

Chargé d'Affaires a.i. Ms.Olena Polunina and Director of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Ambassador Andreas von Beckerath addressed the audience, who, inter alia, "thanked for using these cultural events commemorating the horrible acts known as Holodomor".

Documentary photos from the archives of the G.Pshenychny Central State Cinema and Photoarchives of Ukraine were demonstrated to the audience. 

A minute of silence was observed to commemorate the memory of the millions starved to death.
