On 7 November 2018, a Tribute Evening took place in Stockholm. Commemoration event dedicated to the memory of victims of 1932-1933 Holodomor in Ukraine – Genocide of the Ukrainian nation – was organized by “Ukrainian Youth in Sweden” as part of the global initiative “Let’s Light a Memory Candle”.
A minute of silence was held before the documentary screening of “Genocide Revealed” – film by Yurij Luhovy, based on testimonies of Holodomor survivors; commentaries of Ukrainian and Canadian historians and politicians; declassified Soviet archival documents and rare historical footage.
On 28 October 2018, Holy Service and Commemorative Prayer were held in Ansgarskyrkan in Stockholm.
Father Yaroslav (Ukrainian Christian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate) led the commemorative service, dedicated to the 85thanniversary of the 1932-1933 Holodomor in Ukraine.
Members of the Ukrainian community, Ukrainian community organizations in Sweden, diplomatic staff of the Embassy of Ukraine in Sweden, paid tribute to the memory of 85 children, whose lives were taken by the Great Hunger.
H.E. Ambassador of Ukraine to Sweden Mr.Ihor Sagach addressed the audience.
The commemorative event was organized under the auspices of the Ukrainian Women’s Organization in Sweden.
In November 2018, other commemorative events will be also held in Sweden.
