On 26 June the Day of the Crimean Tatar Flag – national flag of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people of the Crimean peninsula – is honoured in Ukraine and Ukrainian diplomatic missions abroad.
In the light of the continuous occupation by the Russian Federation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol, unity of Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar people is of outmost importance.
The dire violations by Russian occupation authorities of the human rights and freedoms of the Crimean Tatar people, citizens of Ukraine and pro-Ukrainian activists in the Crimea are unacceptable.
Preservation of current political and diplomatic pressure on the Russian Federation as the aggressor state and the Kremlin’s responsibility for violating Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, military aggression in the East of Ukraine, occupation of the Crimean peninsula, should remain in place.
