Victims of Holodomors in Ukraine are commemorated in Sweden

Commemorative services and evenings of remembrance of the victims of the genocide of the Ukrainian people - the Holodomor of 1932 – 1933 committed by totalitarian repressive Stalinist regime, and 1921 - 1922, 1946 - 1947 famines in Ukraine are held in Sweden.

On 5 November, a commemorative event and minute of silence were held in Marie Bebådelse kyrka in Stockholm. Religious service was led by Father Myroslav.

On 26 November, the Ukrainian Sunday school in Stockholm held a “Memory Lesson”, dedicated to the tragic history of the genocide of the Ukrainian nation – the Holodomor of 1932-1933.

On 26 November, the Ukrainian Women Organization in Sweden and Ukrainian “We” Theatre held an interactive performance “Holodomor…”, followed by requiem for the victims of holodomors and a minute of silence. H.E. Ambassador of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Sweden Mr.Ihor Sagach and staff of the Embassy of Ukraine in Sweden payed tribute to the fallen victims, signed book of remembrance “Memory Message” to the future generations commemorating 100 anniversary of the tragic events of Holodomor in Ukraine.

H.E.Ambassador of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Sweden Mr.Ihor Sagach addressed the guests of the commemorative events in Stockholm.

On 26 November, at 16:00 Kyiv time, in support of the all-Ukrainian action “Light a Candle”, the Embassy of Ukraine and NGOs of Ukrainians in Sweden lightened Candles of Memory - symbols honoring millions of Ukrainians, who were tortured by famine.

On 25 November, Ukrainian Community in Göteborg honoured victims of Holodomor, held a minute of silence during the commemorative religious service.
