Round table “Human Rights in Crimea and Donbas under the Russian Occupation” was held in Stockholm
On 11 September 2017, the Olof Palme International Center and the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Sweden hosted a round table “Human Rights in Crimea and Donbas under the Russian Occupation”.
Heads of the Crimean Human Rights Group, Human Rights Information Center, East Ukrainian Human Rights Group, editor-in-chief of the Crimean News Agency QHA and Radio Hayat, human rights activists of the Helsinki Ukrainian Human Rights Union, member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people took part in the discussion.
In the course of the event, the speakers informed about systematic, large-scale and numerous violations of the human rights and freedoms in the Crimea and certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the Russian occupation; called on the international community to continue and strengthen the existing political and diplomatic pressure on the Russian Federation as the occupying power in order to restore Ukraine’s territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders and to ensure unconditional and immediate release of all of the citizens of Ukraine who remain imprisoned in the Russian Federation.
Members of the diplomatic corps, politicians, members of the Swedish human rights organizations, journalists, Swedish and Ukrainian community members were among the guests of the round table.
